New Videos: Albert Beger and Hamid Drake

About a year ago, the Israeli saxophonist Albert Beger joined forces with legendery drummer Hamid Drake who came to play the Tel Aviv Jazz Festival.
The two shared the stage, and gave an amazing, improvised concert,  in the memory of the late Fred Anderson

The show was professionally recorded to make a live album and until the album will be released, we edited four videos off the entire show and we bring it here to you.

In March 15th, we’ll release a new album by Albert Beger and Gerry Hemingway. More details here.

Yair: I played this through and through today, this amazing piece by Sonny Sharock, with his wife Linda doing the vocals. Far out. This is serious.

This immediately made me think of Nicole Mitchell’s Black Earth Ensemble album (This is a more relaxed piece but this album Xenogenesis Suite has some pretty radical moments of its own

Ido :

Discovering Paul Metzger just a few months ago was like discovering s friend, a big brother, and even a soul mate for me.

Using his self-made guitar or his 23 strings banjo Paul is playing the music of “Don Quixote”; riding along in his imaginary world that he builds, and I am following him in my mind.

We’re stunned.
A full (58 minutes) show by The Ex+Brass Unbound in Dublin, from February 2010.
This is brain melting.
